Could Rudy end up in a place like this? Well, that’s San Quentin, and he may be investigated by a federal commission, so if by a long stretch he went anywhere, it’d be a Levenworth other place…But let’s be realistic. He’s not going to prison. However, his campaign has been accused of funneling cash to a group pushing for a ballot measure that would restructure the state’s Presidential electoral votes (I must admit, it took me a while to grasp the issue). The funds allegedly come from out of state and are in violation of federal and state election laws.
We’ll see, but I think Giuliani has a strong following in California, and if he does ascend to the Republican nomination, I think that we can expect to see a lot more of him out there, as he was last week, making trips to meet former Gov. Pete Wilson as well as to pick up the tenuous nomination of former L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan, and of course to pander. Now he’s back on the East Coast. It will be interesting to see how his campaign reacts to the accusations and whether they did indeed violate any statutes, which could be handled by the Federal Elections Commission.
